{"id":531,"date":"2017-12-07T23:43:59","date_gmt":"2017-12-07T18:13:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sarvstudy.com\/old\/?p=531"},"modified":"2020-03-31T19:19:21","modified_gmt":"2020-03-31T13:49:21","slug":"msc-program-in-pharmacology-university-of-alberta-canada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sarvstudy.com\/old\/msc-program-in-pharmacology-university-of-alberta-canada\/","title":{"rendered":"MSc program in Pharmacology, University of Alberta, Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students who meet the entrance requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) and the Department of Pharmacology are usually admitted initially into the MSc Program.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The objective of the MSc program is to lead the students in the development of critical scientific thinking and in the acquisition of solid knowledge of pharmacology principles and specific area of research. At the end of the program, graduates must be able to formulate hypotheses and to propose experimental strategies to test them.<\/li>\n<li>The MSc program consists of both coursework and original research.<\/li>\n<li>The duration of the MSc program is normally 2-3 years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Post Type<\/strong>: Master of Science<\/p>\n<p><b>Application Deadline:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>May 15:<\/strong>\u00a0September admission<\/li>\n<li><strong>September 15:<\/strong>\u00a0January admission<\/li>\n<li><strong>January 15:<\/strong>\u00a0May admission<\/li>\n<li><strong>March 15:<\/strong>\u00a0July admission<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications should be submitted as early as possible as delays occur with late applications.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"page-title\"><strong>Admission<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"row-fluid\">\n<p>The Department applies the following criteria to determine the appropriate classification for each applicant:<\/p>\n<p>Minimum Admission Requirements<\/p>\n<p><strong>GPA<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A baccalaureate science degree or its equivalent from an academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta<\/li>\n<li>3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale (B+ at North American Universities or its equivalent from other institutions) in the last two full years of undergraduate studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>English Language Proficiency<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applicants with degrees in a language other than English may need to demonstrate English Language Proficiency through one of the following exam scores:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>TOEFL: minimum score of 600 (paper based) or a total score of 95 with a score of at least 23 in each of the speaking and writing skill areas (internet-based)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>IELTS: minimum overall band score of 7.0, with a score of at least 6.0 on each band<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to apply<\/h3>\n<p>Please ensure the following information is included with your application to graduate studies. Incomplete applications will be held on file for one year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Application Form<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents may apply for graduate studies in the Department of Pharmacology via the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ualberta.ca\/graduate-studies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research<\/a>\u00a0using their web-based\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ualberta.ca\/graduate-studies\/prospective-students\/apply-for-admission\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">online application<\/a>. If you are unable to apply online you may request an application package from the Graduate Administrator, Department of Pharmacology (address below).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Research Interests<\/strong><br \/>\nApplicants are required to prepare a brief statement of research interests indicating the factors that have attracted the student to a career in pharmacology. Explain how the proposed graduate program relates to your career goals, list your academic, research and professional plans and how your background (academic\/research training and work experience) make you a good candidate for our program.
