Northern College is one of the partners in the Laurentian University BScN Collaborative Program and, as part of this partnership with Laurentian University, our nursing students are able to complete all four years of the BScN program at Northern

Requirements:-

This program is oversubscribed and receives more than enough qualified applicants to fill the seats available. Applicants accepted into oversubscribed programs confirm their offer and pay their fees early to reserve a place in the program

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
Six Grade 12 U/M credits including:
Grade 12 Math (U)
Grade 12 English (U)
Grade 12 Biology (U)
Grade 12 Chemistry (U)
Any two additional Grade 12 courses (4U/M)
Northern College does not offer academic testing for the Science equivalencies.

Students entering the BScN program require a minimum overall average of 75% for admission.

How To Apply:-

  • Completed Immunization/Communicable Disease Testing Requirements forms, supplied by the College.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (C.P.R. – HCP Level).
  • Standard First Aid Certificate (or equivalent).
  • WHMIS Certificate (may be obtained at a minimal cost through the College).
  • A recent criminal reference/vulnerable sector check – (within 6 months) is required prior to the start of the fall Semester (1 original copy).
  • Mask Fit testing (offered in September, on campus by the Nurse Training Officers)

  • Work with specialists of specific populations such as emergency service personnel, children, older adults, pregnant women or those with increased medical risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure, etc
  • Study topics such as: athletic injury management, counselling, sport psychology and exercise physiology, anatomy, biomechanics, and wellness management strategies.

Requirements:-

Some programs require higher proficiency by completing any of the following:

  • Successful completion of GAS-EAP (478) Program Level 8 with 90%,
  • TOEFL (opens new window) minimum score of 560 (83 Internet based),
  • IELTS (opens new window) Academic minimum score of 6.5 overall with no band less than 6.0, or
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma & English Credit (Grade 12 U, M or C) issued from a public school board (required scores vary depending on the program)

  1. Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  2. Minimum C+ in Provincial English 12, English 12 First Peoples, NIC ENG-060, ENG-096, ENG-098, ESL-090 or equivalent, or a B+ in Communications 12, or successful assessment testing.
  3. Minimum C in Principles of Math 11, or Foundations 11, or Pre-calculus 11, or Applications of Math 12, or Apprenticeship and Workplace Math 12, or NIC MAT-053, or successful assessment testing.
  4. Minimum C in Biology 12 (Human Biology), or NIC BIO-060, or equivalent completed within 10 years.
  5. *Student must also complete BIO-159 Human Anatomy and Physiology for Practical Nursing or equivalent with a C+ or better prior to beginning the full time program.
    *Students meeting all requirements with the exception of BIO-159 may be conditionally invited to the program prior to registering in BIO 159. Students will however be required to successfully complete BIO-159 prior to starting the full time program.
  6. Declaration of English Language Competency Requirements for Practical Nursing form signed and dated.
  7. Requisite Skills and Abilities and Program Bulletin signed and dated. These documents provide prospective students with information that may be helpful in deciding if the program is suited to them.  Prospective students who have questions or concerns should contact an educational adviser.

3. C+ in Chemistry 11 or NIC CHE 051, or equivalent within the last 10 years.
4. C+ in Provincial English 12 or English 12 First Peoples or NIC ENG 060 or ENG 096 or ENG 098 or ESL 090.
5. C+ in Principles of Math 11 or Applications of Math 12 or PreCalculus 11 or Foundations of Math 12 or NIC MAT 053.
6. Applicants who are current high school students must submit interim transcripts and complete the Self-Reporting Grade form.

Prospective students must meet the following academic requirements:
1. Submit official transcripts from PN Program and other educational institutions attended.
2. Submit verification of registration status from CLPNBC.
3. C+ in one of Principles of Math 11, Applications of Math 12, Pre-Calculus 11, Foundations of Math 12, NIC MAT 053 or a Math assessment test.
4. *C in ENG 115 or ENG 117
5. *C in BIO 160/161 and 260
6. *C in NUR 170 and NUR 173 from either NIC or VIU.
*C is minimum requirement in any one course but the cumulative average of all 6 courses must be 65% or better.
