Explore the art of fine food with AUT’s new Master of Gastronomy. This multifaceted postgraduate program takes an in-depth look into the study of food, food culture, food history and food politics throughout this multifaceted degree.

Strongly influenced by New Zealand and the Pacific, this master’s degree has been developed so that those with a strong interest in these areas can create their masterpiece.

Enrolment in the course will advance your knowledge in the principles and history of gastronomy. The Master of Health Science programme is tailored for health managers and health practitioners, specifically those working for DHBs, PHOs, the fitness industry and sports organisations, as well as social workers, community care workers and allied health practitioners.

You will expand your knowledge within an inter-disciplinary learning environment and develop skills in critical analysis, constructive synthesis, and advanced practice and research within your chosen discipline area. An option for this program is the completion of a 30 credit scholarly project or a 90 credit thesis. With a career in the field of biotechnology with an emphasis in forensics, you have diverse employment opportunities, from working in biological research to quality assurance, to medical or health-related fields, tracking down criminals or identifying victims of crime. Laboratory related occupations are among the fastest growing occupations in the economy. With specialization in forensics and biotechnology, this program is unique and its graduates are in demand in this emerging field. This advanced diploma program would traditionally take six semesters to complete. However, the program has been designed in an accelerated, compressed format, to provide six semesters of course work over five semesters.

In their final, fifth semester, students can complete their full-time internship from April to August – giving graduates the advantage of getting out into the workforce faster. (Should they so choose, students may defer the summer internship until the fall.) Courses in the program integrate theory and practice opportunities in labs and practice settings. Graduates will be critical thinkers with problem-solving abilities, strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills and a solid foundation in forensic/DNA/medical applications.

This program prepares you to work as a research technologist in life sciences through familiarization with scientific methods, experimental techniques and research equipment. The Bachelor of Biomedical Science is a three-year undergraduate degree that will give you a basic understanding of molecular and cell biology, along with the research skills you need to start your journey towards a career in biomedical science.

You’ll study the relationships between humans, health and disease, and look at real-life health and medical issues like new diseases, or old diseases that resist treatment. Other areas you’ll study are the role of molecular biology in health, drug design and clinical testing.

Covering the entirety of human life, from reproduction to ageing, including microbiology and pharmacology, you’ll gain a solid understanding of the world of biomedical science.

  • A graduate of university studies of pharmacy (or some related fields such as medicine or natural sciences) who has acquired Magister (Mgr.) or Master (MS) degree or its equivalent can apply for the admission to the four-year internal postgraduate doctoral studies.
    • Either Czech Embassy or Ministry of Education of the country you studied in can officially make the documents valid.
    • (Do not provide originals but copies officially verified by a solicitor, barrister or notary – verification by school principals is not acceptable!)
  • Two photographs (passport size)

  • Curriculum vitae
