Undergraduate degrees

After you have completed your 12th Board exams, the most advanced option for you is a Bachelor of Canadian university degree. In Canada, students who have completed 12 years of formal schooling are eligible to enroll in Bachelor programs. According to the directive, Bachelor’s degrees are between 3 and 5 years in length.

Canadian universities offer Bachelor’s degrees in hundreds of courses, in a variety of credit courses, with research options, internships, etc. Many universities offer Honors programs, which often require extra time and participation in studies.

With a Bachelor’s degree, you can continue to study for advanced degrees as a Masters and you will have better job opportunities. You will be eligible to stay in Canada to get a job for up to 3 years, depending on the time of your studies.

So how can you study in Canada after 12 if you want to take a Bachelor’s? The initial step is to fulfill the entry requirements.

Choosing the right university is important. Here are some of the top universities in Canada with undergraduate degrees:

  1. University of Victoria
  2. University of Waterloo
  3. University of Dalhousie
  4. University of Guelph
  5. University of Manitoba

What to study:

Wondering what UG courses are best in Canada? Here is the list!

  1. Computer Science

In today’s computer world, the qualifications of computer science open many doors – from software development to big data analytics. In Canada, students benefit from a research-led teaching style that is both industry-leading and highly employable.

Best Canadian Colleges of Computer Science: University of Dalhousie, University of Guelph

  1. Engineering

Canadian engineering courses are very much needed, especially in Petroleum or Chemical Engineering, Civil, Mechanical, and electrical engineering. Most Canadian engineering programs require internships – which means that before you graduate, you will be well equipped to work in the field.

Best Canadian Engineering Colleges: University of Waterloo, University of Victoria

  1. Finance

Craft Programs

You may not want to take a traditional Bachelor’s degree program but still wonder how you can study in Canada after 12. Fortunately, there are options too!

Why not consider a job training program? These programs are career-oriented training programs, offered in fields such as construction, technology, mechanics and much more. These programs are typically 2 years old and take a learning approach. They are offered at community colleges and technical centers in Canada. Other prestigious institutions include Humber College, Centennial College, and Fanshawe College.

The requirements for craft programs are usually not very high. High school certificates and language examinations such as IELTS will be required.

With a job diploma, you can get a variety of job opportunities in Canada, due to its current skills shortage – making it easier for you to get a PR status over time!

Pathway systems

Several international students enroll in language-based courses as ‘pathways’ for getting admitted to a Canadian university or college. Studying for 6 months or more, they can get the English or French language degrees they need to continue their studies in Canada.

Available options include:

  • Independent language courses: Upon completion of the course, you must cancel a language test such as IELTS, which will result in admission to any institution, subject to admission conditions.
  • Harmless pathway systems: Some institutions have links to language schools. Once you have completed the language course, you will receive automatic access to the center.

Entry requirements will usually include a high school certificate and low marks in a language test such as IELTS (low marks will be accepted).
