The structure of the PhD programs of the Medical Faculty is similar to those of most European and American universities. The doctoral (PhD) degree as the highest qualification attainable at university is conferred by the University of Pecs to those who have given evidence of sufficient practical skills and theoretical knowledge, to conduct scientific research independently.

How to Apply

The applicants are required to fill in an application form, submit a preliminary research proposal, an official copy of their MSc diploma, B2 level English language certificate (written/spoken), a C.V. and copy of the passport, as well as supporting letters from two instructor-researchers at the UP MS.

Requirements

A graduate of university studies of pharmacy (or some related fields such as medicine or natural sciences) who has acquired Magister (Mgr.) or Master (MS) degree or its equivalent can apply for the admission to the four-year internal postgraduate doctoral studies.
- Either Czech Embassy or Ministry of Education of the country you studied in can officially make the documents valid.
- (Do not provide originals but copies officially verified by a solicitor, barrister or notary – verification by school principals is not acceptable!)
Two photographs (passport size)
Medical Fitness Certificate
Curriculum vitae
English certificate TOEFL 50-70 or IELTS 5.5 – 5.0.
Two written references (at least one referee should be familiar with applicant’s academic work)

All documents should be presented in an authenticated English version.
The Faculty of Pharmacy will consider the application afterwards.

Students who meet the entrance requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) and the Department of Pharmacology are usually admitted initially into the MSc Program.

The objective of the MSc program is to lead the students in the development of critical scientific thinking and in the acquisition of solid knowledge of pharmacology principles and specific area of research. At the end of the program, graduates must be able to formulate hypotheses and to propose experimental strategies to test them.
The MSc program consists of both coursework and original research.
The duration of the MSc program is normally 2-3 years.

The Department applies the following criteria to determine the appropriate classification for each applicant:

Minimum Admission Requirements

GPA

A baccalaureate science degree or its equivalent from an academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta
3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale (B+ at North American Universities or its equivalent from other institutions) in the last two full years of undergraduate studies

English Language Proficiency

Applicants with degrees in a language other than English may need to demonstrate English Language Proficiency through one of the following exam scores:

TOEFL: minimum score of 600 (paper based) or a total score of 95 with a score of at least 23 in each of the speaking and writing skill areas (internet-based)

IELTS: minimum overall band score of 7.0, with a score of at least 6.0 on each band

Research Interests
Applicants are required to prepare a brief statement of research interests indicating the factors that have attracted the student to a career in pharmacology. Explain how the proposed graduate program relates to your career goals, list your academic, research and professional plans and how your background (academic/research training and work experience) make you a good candidate for our program. Please upload the Statement of Research Interests forms with the online application.
Letter of References
Applicants must arrange for 3 letters of reference to be uploaded by the referees with the on-line application.
