The Bachelor of Biomedical Science is a three-year undergraduate degree that will give you a basic understanding of molecular and cell biology, along with the research skills you need to start your journey towards a career in biomedical science.

You’ll study the relationships between humans, health and disease, and look at real-life health and medical issues like new diseases, or old diseases that resist treatment. Other areas you’ll study are the role of molecular biology in health, drug design and clinical testing.

Covering the entirety of human life, from reproduction to ageing, including microbiology and pharmacology, you’ll gain a solid understanding of the world of biomedical science.

Requirements:-

To be accepted into this programme you will need to meet one of the following:

  • Achievement of the International Baccalaureate Diploma

  • Successful completion of the All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSC) with an average of 75% or higher overall

  • Successful completion of the India School Certificate (ISC) with an average of 75% or higher overall

Proof of English proficiency

To be accepted into this programme you will need to meet one of the following:

  • IELTS: minimum overall score of 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5

  • TOEFL: minimum overall score of 80 (internet-based test)

  • Pearson Test of English: minimum score of 58 (with a ‘Communicative score’ of not less than 50)

  • EPP: minimum final scores of 4,4,4,3

  • A grade of 65% or higher in English in the AISSC or ISC

Requirements

  • A graduate of university studies of pharmacy (or some related fields such as medicine or natural sciences) who has acquired Magister (Mgr.) or Master (MS) degree or its equivalent can apply for the admission to the four-year internal postgraduate doctoral studies.
    • Either Czech Embassy or Ministry of Education of the country you studied in can officially make the documents valid.
    • (Do not provide originals but copies officially verified by a solicitor, barrister or notary – verification by school principals is not acceptable!)
  • Two photographs (passport size)
  • Medical Fitness Certificate
  • Curriculum vitae
  • English certificate TOEFL 50-70 or IELTS 5.5 – 5.0.

Understanding how and why we age are fundamental biological questions with great medical and societal impact. To address these questions, The Programme train a new generation of biomedical scientists to unravel the basic molecular mechanisms underlying ageing and age-related diseases.

Programmes interdisciplinary approach integrates the fields of genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, systems biology and translational medicine. The CGA provides a strong research environment and a cutting-edge training programme to meet this challenge.

The Programme offer young scientists of exceptional talent a structured PhD training in biomedical disciplines within an international environment. Students who meet the entrance requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) and the Department of Pharmacology are usually admitted initially into the MSc Program.

  • The objective of the MSc program is to lead the students in the development of critical scientific thinking and in the acquisition of solid knowledge of pharmacology principles and specific area of research. At the end of the program, graduates must be able to formulate hypotheses and to propose experimental strategies to test them.
  • The MSc program consists of both coursework and original research.
  • The duration of the MSc program is normally 2-3 years.

GPA

  • A baccalaureate science degree or its equivalent from an academic institution recognized by the University of Alberta
  • 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale (B+ at North American Universities or its equivalent from other institutions) in the last two full years of undergraduate studies

English Language Proficiency

Applicants with degrees in a language other than English may need to demonstrate English Language Proficiency through one of the following exam scores:

  • TOEFL: minimum score of 600 (paper based) or a total score of 95 with a score of at least 23 in each of the speaking and writing skill areas (internet-based)
  • IELTS: minimum overall band score of 7.0, with a score of at least 6.0 on each band
